Formerly the Main Theater of the UA5 multiplex, the Sanctuary Theater is now exactly what it sounds like: a Sanctuary, and a Theater. Purchased by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Santa Rosa in 2004, the facility underwent a major renovation, opening a year later as the UUCSR's home and church facility. The building was named the Glaser Center after long0time members and patrons Jules and Barbara Glaser. In 2006, the UUCSR hired David Templeton as manager and Artistic Director, and launched an effort to evolve the facility into a thriving downtown meeting place and community Center, with special emphasis on serving non-profits and other community groups. The Sanctuary Theater has been the site of many many theater productions, concerts, book readings, and city council meetings, and more. Its excellent acoustics and open, classy feel have made it a sought-after location for non-profit events and performances.
